Lachung and Yumthang Valley
At 8600 feet and 121 km from Gangtok, Lachung is a pretty Lepcha village with abundant rhododendrons and orchids. It’s the base for visiting Yumthang Valley.
At 12000 feet, and 24 km from Lachung, the valley is close to the tree line. From March to May, Yumthang is a vibrant vale of flowers, including large rhododendrons and orchids. The Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary is here.
