After a hearty breakfast, get ready for a day filled with natural beauty, culture, and history as you explore the top attractions in and around Pelling, West Sikkim.

Your journey begins at Darap Village, a traditional settlement that offers a glimpse into the rich cultural tapestry of the region. Primarily home to the Limboo tribe, the village is also inhabited by other ethnic communities, making it a fascinating spot to experience authentic Sikkimese rural life and hospitality.

Next, immerse yourself in the serenity of nature at Rimbi Waterfalls, followed by the breathtaking Kanchenjunga Falls, one of the most powerful and scenic waterfalls in the area—perfect for photo ops and a refreshing pause amidst nature.

From there, head to the sacred and tranquil Khecheopalri Lake, considered a wish-fulfilling lake by locals and revered by both Buddhists and Hindus. Uniquely shaped like a footprint, the lake is believed to be so holy that even the birds keep it clean by picking off every fallen leaf.

After lunch, explore the spiritual and historical side of Pelling. Visit the Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most prestigious monasteries in Sikkim, founded in 1705. With its ancient relics, statues, and intricate woodwork, it's a peaceful haven steeped in tradition.

A short drive takes you to the Rabdentse Ruins, the former capital of the Kingdom of Sikkim. Now an archaeological site surrounded by lush greenery, the ruins offer panoramic views of the surrounding valleys and snow-capped peaks—an ideal spot for history buffs and photographers alike.

End the day with a visit to the Helipad Viewpoint, where you can soak in stunning vistas of the entire Kanchenjunga range, especially beautiful at sunset.

There are restrictions on vehicle movement within Gangtok City between 8 AM and 7 PM. During these hours if you have to transit outside, you have to hire a local taxi (easily available within the city) and come to the “vehicle stand”. There are multiple stands in town, each designated for different destinations. Our operations team will co-ordinate with you over the phone but we will not be present on the ground as our vehicle is allowed only till the stand where it will wait for you. So commuting between the hotel and the stand is your responsibility.

Rules for a visit to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir

Permit for Tsomgo Lake & New Baba Mandir is issued on the same day around 08.00 to 09.00 AM. Sometimes due to a large number of tourists, the issuance of a permit may take longer. Because of transport restrictions in Gangtok town (mentioned in detail separately), guests are required to leave the hotel much before 8:00 AM and might have to wait at Tsomgo stand for some time till the permit is issued and reaches the stand. Guests should be mentally prepared to wait at the stand during this time.

Returning guests will be dropped at Tsomgo stand from where a return journey by local taxies has to be arranged by the guests directly.

If a permit is not issued due to weather problems or military restrictions, then alternate trips will be arranged. However, if the journey starts towards Tsomgo but is interrupted midway due to any unforeseen circumstances, then the sightseeing of Hanuman Tok, Ganesh Tok, and Tashi View Point will be done on the way back. In either case, there will be no refund irrespective of the cause for the change.
